Backyard garden salad recipe

The best part of having a backyard farm is enjoying the foods you've worked so hard to grow. This salad recipe is open for variation based on what you like to grow and what you like to eat. Because you are in charge of your own farm, you can mix in whatever you like and skip the foods that you don't. Regardless, the recipe is the perfect way to eat your fresh, home-grown produce without making a ton of trips to your grocery store!

Ingredients for your own backyard:

  • Various lettuce varieties: bib lettuce, romaine, arugula
  • Various kale varieties: red, green
  • Red, yellow & green peppers
  • A few kinds of tomatoes: Roma, cherry, heirloom
  • Chives
  • Herbs: sage & dill

Ingredients from the market:

  • Hemp & chia seeds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Nuts

Dressing:

  • A little olive oil (using an oil spray bottle helps reducing the amount of oil used)
  • Sea salt
  • Cracked pepper
